NEWS;

09.11.06
We can all breathe a sigh of relief - it turns out Fox is exactly as reliable as it usually is.

No, not only is Studio 60 not being cancelled - NBC has just ordered nine more episode, bringing the show to a full 22-episode season!

You can read a short interview with Aaron Sorkin about the show's ratings here.

03.11.06
Our concerns may have been premature. According to IMdb, NBC Universal CEO Robert Wright has denied Fox's reports of cancellation, saying that "We have too much money invested in it. ... I think it will go on." NBC Entertainment President Kevin Reilly claims that he is pulling for Studio 60 and other new NBC additions 30 Rock and Friday Night Lights, saying he believes they have "a lot of promise" and "can really grow into bigger commerical assets. (LA Times.)

Meanwhile, we finally have some new episode summaries, which are up in the ep guide - and it looks as though the next few weeks are going to be interesting!

30.10.06
Uh. So, do you want the good news first, or the bad news?

Okay, well, the good news is that three more scripts have been ordered for Studio 60.

The bad news, as you may already have heard, is that Fox News seems to think that these scripts may be the show's last. Of course, given Fox's lack of credibility as a source of anything even roughly resembling news, this should be taken with a grain of salt. Also, the Hollywood Reporter article linked above describing the script orders points out that Cheers, Seinfeld and House all had shaky starts and were considered to be on the brink of cancellation before becoming megahits.

12.10.06
Added (belated) 101 screen captures from The Cold Open and created a Cafe Press store. Not much in there at the moment, just some "Matt is my hero and Danny thinks Moliere was Italian" t-shirts as well as some assorted tops with the show logo.

10.10.06
Revamped the character and quote pages and added some more parallels.

09.10.06
I've added some new information to the episode guide on episodes five and six, "The Long Lead Story" and "The Wrap Party". Also updated the parallels page with more Sorkinese crossovers.

Meanwhile, in another case of life imitating art, the There But For The Grace Of God Go I Society American Decency Association has lauched a campaign against Studio 60 and its advertisers. If you want to show your opposition to this, Ozzyols has some ideas here. (Be advised that the page contains religious views which some may find offensive.)

27.09.06
So, yeah. 110mb, the most recent old host, accidentally deleted the website. *headdesk* For the meantime, I'm moving the site back here and over the next few days I'm going to be looking at buying some webspace. There's been a couple of days' worth of updates lost in the deletion of the site, but otherwise everything should be running smoothly. Drop me an email if you're having any difficulties.

22.09.06
We're back! Did you all enjoy the pilot as much as I did? Please excuse the technical difficulties of the past week - our new webhost decided to celebrate our successful move by deleting all of the hosted accounts in order to upgrade. Yes, these things do just follow me around.

To recap on some news you may have already heard by now - it's been confirmed that Amanda Peet is pregnant - congratulations to both Amanda and her fiance!

According to TV Squad, Lauren Graham of Gilmore Girls will be guest-starring in two episodes of Studio 60 as herself, guest-hosting an episode of the fictional sketch comedy.

And if you're at home on Monday September 25, Matthew Perry is scheduled to appear on Ellen according to Studio 60 Guide. You can also see Brad Whitford tonight on Bill Mahr's show.

06.09.06
First of all, apologies for the lack of updates recently; the old webhost suddenly realised it didn't like me very much, which brings me to second of all, welcome to the new site!

You may by now have heard the various rumours about Amanda Peet's pregnancy, seen the gorgeous new cast photos (which I'll be uploading in the next day or so) and the new commericals (which I'll also link to). And if you hadn't, well, you have now.

A few more interesting tidbits: The new Entertainment Weekly has an article on our show including some lovely cast photos. Scans can be found here at the Studio 60 LJ community, thanks to crossmymind!

Some conflicting information of episodes 3 and 4: Wikipedia initially reported that episode 3 was titled "The West Coast Delay", then later amended the page and placed "The West Coast Delay" as the title for episode 4, naming episode 3 "The Focus Group". IMdb, meanwhile, is calling episode 4 "The Long Lead Story". Rumoured details about the content of these episodes, and some interesting new casting and plot details on episode 5 can be found in the episode guide.

08.08.06
Updated the cast pages.

05.08.06
The official Studio 60 website is now open with several goodies on offer including video clips and some new photos which are now available in the photos section.

It appears at the moment as if episode 2 will be called "The Cold Open" and not "Jeannie" as we've been supposing - IMdb reports that Margaret Easley has been cast as Constance Gower in said episode, whose name notably features in the casting sides of episode 2.

As most of you probably know, the Studio 60 pilot was leaked earlier this week, though if you didn't get to see it, you won't have to wait long! It's available for rental from Netflix today.

The Futon Critic has given our show a glowing four-star, "forget the TiVo, watch these babies live" rating.

In an interview, Tim Busfield explains how he got on board with Studio 60. "I was the first one signed for the cast."

22.07.06
NBC has confirmed that Studio 60 is set to premiere on Monday, September 18 at 10pm. See the release at The Futon Critic.

ExtraTV.com has a short interview with Matthew Perry and Brad Whitford which includes a video clip here.

20.07.06
The Studio 60 News Blog is reporting that Ayda Field has joined the cast. It's not yet clear who she will be playing or how big a role her character will have, but she is widely presumed to be playing writer and performer Jeannie.

IMdb's episode list for Studio 60 is reporting an episode entitled "The Cold Open".

And for everybody who's dying to get their hands on a copy of the Studio 60 pilot, good news! From August 5th, the pilot will be available to rent on NetFlix! Thanks to Scott for the tip on this one.

18.07.06
Jamie Tarses - the woman on whom Jordan McDeere is based - gives her opinion on Studio 60, saying it is possibly "the nicest portrayal of a network executive ever". Steven Weber (Jack Rudolph) also talks about the show in a recent interview, expecting that it will "last for some time".

11.07.06
NBC has begun uploading its trailers onto YouTube, including an abridged 2 minute version of the behind the scenes video which is available in its entirity (at almost 3 minutes long) on the NBC First Look page. Also up on YouTube are three short promos which use stills from the pilot. Yahoo also has a couple of clips up here, which my vindictive computer refuses to show me.

A study into the online buzz over new fall shows has placed Studio 60 as the most-talked about (taking up 22.2% of online discussion); it also had the most positive audience response.

Extra TV discusses Matthew Perry's role in Studio 60; the actor describes his character as "a rather messy, screwed-up, brilliant, genius writer." In a recent interview, DL Hughley (Simon Stiles) also talks about Studio 60, calling the pilot script "the best thing I've ever read".

06.07.06
More casting sides for the episode "Jeannie" have been transcribed and posted in the scripts section, here. Alternately, you can read them in their original .pdf form here (membership is required). Thanks to hungryhippo for the heads up on this one!

18.06.06
The sides for episode 2, "Jeannie", have been floating around the internet and can be found in .pdf form here and here. Alternately, you can find them on the scripts page, where I've transcribed the sides.

A better quality version of the six-minute trailer shown at the NBC Up Fronts is now accessible via NBC's Studio 60 First Look page. Aside from the quality it's essentially the same as the original trailer, with some changes to the music.

25.05.06
As has been rumoured, Studio 60 has a new home at Mondays at 10. You can find the press release here.

23.05.06
I've added another mirror for the 6 minute promo (thanks to Martin for the tip-off!) and a link to a clip from the NBC Up Fronts featuring Brad Whitford and Matthew Perry. There are more goodies over on NBC's website. Click here, select "Featured" and then "NBC First Look" in the menu that appears. A list of clips will come up; hit the Studio 60 one and you'll be treated to two snippets from the pilot. The other one, you'll have to use a roundabout way to get to, but it's well worth it: Go to the Heroes page at NBC First Look and click on the video link. You'll have to let the Heroes clip play through first or none of the videos will work. After it's played through once, scroll down the right-hand menu and hit the Studio 60 link for a clip of Wes's rant. (Thanks to Hungry Hippo and es0terix for the links!)

I've made some screen captures of the second video (the one of Wes's rant), which are now available from the screen caps page. For more pilot caps, check out SunsetTalk's photo albums, where you'll find 13 screen shots from the pilot (membership is required).

In scheduling news, NBC seem to be contemplating moving Studio 60 to Monday nights at either 9pm or 10 (Thanks, nonameface78!).

18.05.06
There's a new interview with Nate Corddry in which he talks a lot about his role on Studio 60, describing the scripts for episodes two and three as "better than the pilot". You can also find links to the trailers that have been circulating over the past few days in the video clips page.

17.05.06
Some potentially bad news for Studio 60 - Grey's Anatomy has been placed in the 9pm timeslot on Thursday, placing our show in competition with the most popular series of two networks (ABC's Grey's and CBS's CSI). It remains to be seen whether NBC will try to fight it out on Thursdays or move Studio 60 to another day.

But there is good news, for we have some gorgeous new photos to drool over! You can see them all in the promo pics section of this website. But wait, there's more! Click here and you'll find a six minute trailer for the pilot episode!

And though it's been hanging out there for a while, it has also been confirmed that Ed Asner will be playing Wilson White.

15.05.06
Well, they got it half right. NBC is just reporting that Studio 60 is set to air on Thursdays at 9pm, before ER. The release details can be found at the NBC Media Village, here.

15.05.06
We've got our first footage of Studio 60! NBC played a 30-second trailer during the final episode of The West Wing, which txvoodoo has kindly uploaded here. (Edit: Mirror.) Enjoy! I've also added 23 screen captures from the trailer and 4 new promo pics to the photos section.

Variety and the Wall Street Journal are both reporting that Studio 60 is set to air on Thursdays at 10pm in the US; NBC will be officially releasing the air times later today.

12.05.06
British fans will be pleased to know that Neil Wilkes of Digital Spy is "fairly certain a UK deal will be announced at the LA screenings at the end of this month. That's if it hasn't been picked up on the sly already..." Meanwhile in America, there's been some speculation about when NBC will choose to air Studio 60. Sacbee.com suspects that it may take ER's 10pm Thursday timeslot. The official schedule will be announced on May 15, so stay tuned.

Matthew Perry (Matt Albie) tells TVGuide.com that Studio 60 is "kind of a show about how bad television has become. It even takes shots at NBC. It's a rather significant show for them, and hopefully for everybody." He's also quoted in an article from New York Daily News, describing his character as a "tortured genius who's kind of a mess".

DL Hughley (Simon Stiles) talked to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, saying that the pilot was fun to film, but "a lot of hard work". "People throw around the word 'genius' a lot in our business, but I think those cats are some of the brightest people I've ever worked with." A TV Squad interview with Brad Whitford (Danny Tripp) also touches on Studio 60.

As far as site updates go, I've added some newer casting sides to the scripts page and some other goodies to the fanart page. :) There are also some cast photos up under Misc. Cast and some quotes from the early pilot script in the quotes page.

05.05.06
First, and most importantly, NBC has officially signed Studio 60 on for this coming season! In casting news, IMdb is reporting that Jayma Mays has been cast as Daphne, the publicist who appears in the pilot. Nate Torrence will play a Studio 60 cast member, Jack Black wannabe Dylan, and Kirsten Pierce will appear as Jack Rudolph's wife, Marilyn. It is worth noting that while some have noted Pierce's numerous adult film roles, according to our sources her past work has in fact been in the field of choreoanimation.

Meanwhile, Timothy Busfield's character, Cal, finally has a surname: The Studio 60 News Blog is reporting that he has now been dubbed Cal Shanley.
