MATTHEW ALBIE;
 | Age: Thirties. A draft of the pilot placed him as 33; in The Focus Group, Matt says he's three years younger than Danny.
Position: Executive Producer of Studio 60.
Religious Beliefs: Jewish. Harriet describes him as an "East Coast liberal Jewish atheist".
On Studio 60: Began working on Studio 60 in 1997 as a staff writer, but didn't get much notice until 1999, when Harriet joined the cast. The two propelled each other into success; Matt's writing reached a new standard as he tried to impress Harriet and Harriet gained recognition as she received the lion's share of roles in Matt's sketches, which were suddenly cropping up in every episode. |
He was promoted to co-executive producer before being fired in 2002 by Jack Rudolph for his outspoken politics. Now, emerging from the success of their critically acclaimed movie "Removing All Doubt", Matt and Danny are convinced to return to NBS to take over Studio 60 as executive producers in the wake of Wes' implosion.
Personal History: Matt used to date Harriet Hayes, but the relationship ended badly after an argument over Harriet's decision to promote her new album of spiritual music on The 700 Club. Harriet broke up with him over email after this incident. Matt's new role as her boss places him in an awkward position, particularly as he has not entirely gotten over his feelings for her.
He bears a grudge against Ricky and Ron because after he voiced his support for Bill Maher after he made controvserial on-air remark about September 11, Ricky left Matt out to dry, stating to reporters that "Matt Albie certainly doesn't speak for the cast, crew and staff of Studio 60 whose thoughts and prayers are with the brave men and women who lost their lives on September 11th."
