D.L. HUGHLEY;
Actor and stand-up comedian Darryl Lynn "D.L." Hughley grew up in LA's south central. He had a difficult upbringing, being kicked out of high school and becoming a member of the Bloods gang; however, his life turned around after his cousin was shot. He quit the gang, got a GED and a job and met his wife-to-be, who convinced him to try his hand at stand-up comedy. He was a success, and in 1992 he was selected to be the first host of BET's Comic View.
In 1997, Hughley went on a nationwide stand-up comedy tour with Steve Harvey, Cedric the Entertainer and Bernie Mac as the Kings of Comedy. The act was later made into a film by Spike Lee, which became one of the highest-selling DVDs in 2001. |

Hughley has appeared in several film and TV productions, including his own sitcom, The Hughleys, which ran between 1998 and 2002 and his short-lived late night talk show Weekends at the DL. His one-hour HBO special D.L. Hughley Goin' Home earned him a nomination for an NAACP Image Award.
He is listed as number 54 on Comedy Central's 100 Greatest Stand-ups of All Time.
Hughley and his wife LaDonna have three children, daughters Ryan and Tyler and son Kyle.
